Colin's Summer at the Lake

Most of Colin's summer revolved around our five trips to our Lake House. He has been really enjoying himself there. While turning 12 this year means Colin's changing slowly into a teenager, he is very grounded and is involved with his family and friends. Here are a few pics.

Colin likes to fish for minnows (kind of like our dog Brandi!)

Colin rode the tube with his friends Cameron and Courtland.

Waverunners are ALWAYS on the agenda at the lake!

Colin spent some quality time with his cousin Claudia.

Colin adores Maggie and loves playing with her.

Colin got to make a concrete step by placing the stones of his choice into the still hardening step.

Colin mentored his brother Nicholas on riding waverunners. He's very cautious and responsible. I'm so proud of him. But sometimes they do act like boys...

Don't forget Colin tried indoor skydiving for the first time. He had a very fun-filled summer.

Colin Skydives... Indoors!

After J and I got a taste of Indoor Skydiving on our anniversary, we went back with the Brighams (friends from work) and Colin went and had a fantastic time.

Colin only went once, and got a bit scared. As you'll see from the video of his jump, we can't figure out why - he did AWESOME!

Here it is in its entirety:

Colin's Christmas Program

Colin has been playing the Clarinet for two years in the school band. He played this year in the school Christmas program.

See that nice outfit he's wearing? He had a MONTH to give us the paper telling us what he should be wearing and he gave it to us THE NIGHT BEFORE the program. Talk about scrambling to find a solid red, long-sleeved shirt around Christmas time!

There was a very cool "stomp"-like presentation during the program.

Another Weekend at the Lake!

We went to the Lake for Labor Day and Colin spent his time fishing and riding the wave runners. He caught a largest bigmouth bass with Nicholas' help. Colin's line was too weak to pull the bass out of the water so Nicholas scooped it with the net.

Colin had his second weekend riding the waverunners solo. He is an absolute natural. His Papa couldn't believe how great his control of the waverunners is. (Although like any 11 year old, Colin tends to get a bit confident and gets too close to the dock - Mom took care of that with a little yelling!)

Colin did manage to spend some quality time with his grandfather, who stayed with us that weekend to oversee some repairs to the house.

All-in-all, Colin had a great time and will have some great childhood memories.

Freedom of the "Sea"

We went to the Lake this past weekend and since Colin is a bit over 11 and has been driving the waverunners for over 5 years now (with me behind him helping to drive) I asked him if he wanted to try an drive on his own. He took like a fish to water. He really enjoyed the freedom and rode ALL weekend.
